| Dr. Howard
was born and raised in a small community outside of Pittsburgh, Pa.
After graduating from high school he attended Penn State University
for 2 years before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed
at Shaw A.F.B. in Semter, S.C. After being discharged from the service
he received his B.S. degree in biology from the University of South
Carolina. From there he returned to Pittsburgh where he worked selling
pharmaceuticals for Ayerst Laboratories. In 1971 he entered the University
of Pittsburgh School of Dentist Medicine. He received his Doctor of
Dental Medicine degree (D.M.D.) in 1975 at which time he joined the
U.S. Navy for 3 years. He spent 2 years in Chicago and his last year
on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Constellation which was stationed in
San Diego. After his separation from the Navy in 1978 he opened his
practice the following year in Spring Valley where he has just celebrated
his 25th anniversary at that location. He is married to his childhood
sweetheart, Johnna, and has four children- Paul, Kristy, Curtis and
Kelly, and three grandchildren. He is an avid golfer and still roots
for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
